Margot Ellis
My professional story runs from the soils to the stars. At the local, national, or outer space level, I use law, governance, and strategic communication to build frameworks that let people and businesses actually get on with things.
Incoming Graduate Lawyer | Gilbert + Tobin (Commencing 2027)
I'm building a career at the intersection of law and technology. I recently finished my Juris Doctor at Australian National University (ANU), with strong results in AI Governance, IT Law, Space Law, and Corporate Insolvency.
Ahead of joining Gilbert + Tobin in 2027, I'm focused on what actually drives client outcomes — sharp legal drafting, clear reasoning, and an AI-first approach that fits G+T's push to be the most AI-enabled firm in the country.
Space Regulatory Reform | WRegSAT
Outer space regulation is catching up fast, and I want to help shape it. As project lead and researcher WRegSAT project (Workshops on the Regulation of Space Activities and Technologies), I work on the regulatory frameworks that'll govern how we operate up there.
Journalism & Strategic Communications | Ex-ABC Rural
Before law, I spent over a decade as a senior journalist with the ABC, including reporting on agribusiness and primary industries for Landline. That background sticks with me: I ask questions relentlessly, translate legal complexity into plain English, and know that the full picture of any commercial problem comes from talking to the people actually in it.
